Joggers or runners nipple occurs when your nipples chaff from the constant friction with your clothing. It may seem unserious, but it is a significant problem that many runners face both men and women.
If left unaddressed it may lead to bleeding nipples, which are extremely painful. The good news is that there are plenty of options that have been developed over time to help with this problem. This nipple protection for runner’s solutions is suitable for both males and females.
Nipple covers
Nipple covers for running are by far the best option because they are made specifically for the nipples. They create a barrier between your nipples and your shirt to prevent chest chafing running. Be keen to check for nipple covers that are water and sweat proof. This is to ensure that no matter how sweaty you get or if it rains they won’t fall off hence causing the problem you tried to avoid. They are also great to reduce cold nipples when running.
Runners Band-Aid
They are similar to nipple covers except that they are Band-Aids and are made with runners in mind. They have a strong adhesive that holds them in place no matter the weather or how much you sweat; they won’t move. The Band-Aids are a great option if you can’t find good nipple covers that stay on when you run or jog.

Anti-chaffing balm
It is a specially made jelly that you can apply on your nipples, and it prevents chaffing by allowing the shirt to slip over the nipples. The anti-chafing balm reduces chaffing by reducing friction, and the best part is that it doesn’t run out quickly so it can take you through your whole work out. If you can’t get it, then you can use petroleum jelly but note that it may not last as long as the chaffing balm.
Duct tape/Surgical tape
In case you cannot access nipple covers or Band-Aids then duct tape to prevent chafing or surgical tape may also be used. If you wonder why do runners tape their nipples it is because they have a powerful adhesive, so they are water and sweat proof. Both of these create a comfortable barrier, and you only need a small piece to cover the areola. However, you need to be careful when removing them so as not to injure yourself. If you can, invest in some hypoallergenic double fashion tape for better results.
Wart cushions
They are usually used to treat warts, but they can serve as excellent substitutes for nipple covers. The wart cushions have a great hold so if applied on correctly they should last you long. However, you may have a little bump on your nipple area that may be quite visible, but compared to risking bleeding nipples, it may be a decent sacrifice to make.
Other than using the above options to create a barrier between your nipples and the shirt, you should avoid loosely fitting inner wear or anti-chafing shirt. It is better to wear something suitable to reduce the constant friction between your skin and clothes.
